Roller bit and Advancer

The roller bit is a core tool used for rock breaking in oil drilling, geological exploration and mining. It achieves efficient drilling by impacting, shearing and grinding the formation through a rotating conical cone (inlaid with hard alloy teeth or diamonds).

Classification of roller bits 

Classified by the number of teeth wheels

Single roller bit: It is suitable for small boreholes or directional drilling, but has relatively poor stability.

Double-toothed drill bit: balancing efficiency and stability, it is mostly used in medium-hard strata.

Three-roller drill bit: The most common type, highly adaptable, covering strata from soft to extremely hard.

Classification by the material of the cutting teeth

Milling tooth drill bit (steel tooth drill bit) : The tooth body is made of alloy steel and undergoes surface hardening treatment.

Advantages: Low cost and strong impact resistance.

Disadvantages: Poor wear resistance, suitable for soft to medium-hard surfaces (such as shale and mudstone).

Tungsten Carbide Insert (TCI) : The tooth tip is a composite piece of tungsten carbide or diamond.

Advantages: High wear resistance, long service life, suitable for hard surfaces (such as sandstone and granite).

Disadvantages: High brittleness and prone to tooth breakage.

Classification by applicable strata

Soft formation drill bit: Long teeth, large offset Angle, optimized shear efficiency.

Medium-hard stratum drill bit: Moderate tooth height, taking into account both impact and shear.

Hard stratum drill bit: Short teeth, high-density insert teeth, strong anti-grinding performance.
