Casing Shoe

In drilling operations, the drill shoe is a special tool installed at the bottom of the casing or drill pipe. It is mainly used to protect the tubing column, assist drilling or complete specific downhole functions.

Core functions

Guidance and protection : The sloping or cutting structure of the shoe reduces resistance during the lowering of the tubing, prevents stuck drill, and protects the casing/drill pipe end from formation wear.

Reconditioning the well : By rotating or circulating the drilling fluid, irregular protrusions on the wellbore are removed to ensure a smooth wellbore for subsequent operations.

Auxiliary cementing : The casing shoe is often combined with the floating shoe (Float Shoe) and has a built-in check valve to prevent cement slurry from flowing back and ensure the quality of cementing.
